At dawn this millennium Easter Sunday, thousands of Presbyterians will be gathering together at venues around Ireland to celebrate the rising of the Son!
Old and young alike will join in worship at such diverse venues as seashore car parks, forest parks and even mountain tops to celebrate the triumph of Christ's ressurection from the grave, nearly 2000 years ago.
What is now the traditional start to Easter Day for many people originally began as an idea of the Youth Board of the Presbyterian Church some 30 years ago. It has developed into a short service attended by all ages and by members of other denominations as well. The services are usually followed by a warm cuppa with a couple of slices of toast in a nearby church hall. With many other millennium celebrations ongoing throughout the community, many Presbyterians will use Sunday morning to continue to emphasise why the year 2000 AD is so signifigant.
