Ballee Presbyterian Church in Ballymena plan to celebrate the opening of a new 'link' building this Friday December 3rd 1999. The opening and dedication ceremony will be performed by Presbyterian Moderator, Dr John Lockington, commencing at 7.30pm.
As the name suggests, the new building will 'link' the church meeting house which was built in 1975 to the hall, built in 1990. It provides much needed accommo dation for a range of congregational activities such as PWA meetings and mid week Bible study. The new building is also suitable for audio visual presentations, has new toilet facilities, a creche and a foyer area. It is hoped that the foyer area will provide space for informal fellowship before and after Sunday services.
The link building was designed by R Robinson and Sons, Ballymoney and built by H Taggart and Sons also of Ballymoney. Funding for the project has been generated entirely by the congregation, with most of the finance already raised by a variety of means, not least through direct giving.
Several other people will be taking part during Friday nights service with Dr Lockington including Rev David Brice, Moderator of the Ballymena Presbytery. The Scriptures will be read by Clerk of Session, Mr Ronald Crooks while soloist Miss Jody Forsythe will be performing with the Ballee Church Choir and Music Group. Commenting on the opening Rev Joseph Andrews, minister of Ballee Presbyterian said:
"Our congregation are really looking forward with great enthusiasm to Friday night. The opening of our link building marks the completion of major building projects for our congregation. We are so thankful for the good stewarship of past members who planned for growth in previous years. As the Ballee Presbyterian congregation of the next millennium, we hope that God will continue to bless our endeavours in His service as this building is opened."
