With the start of the Presbyterian General Assembly just over a week away Presbyterian Moderator Designate, Dr John Lockington has named his two chaplains.
They are Rev Leslie Casement, minister of Sixmilecross near Omagh and Rev Jimmy Johnstone, minister of the Craigy Hill congregation in Larne.
Both have been long time friends of Dr Lockington. Mr Casement is senior Chaplain and brings to the post his experience as a former convener of the General Assembly's Arrangements Committee while Mr Johnstone is Clerk of the Carrickfergus Presbytery of which the Moderator designate is also a member.
Present Moderator Dr John Dixon has also had to make a change to his chaplaincy team since his one of his original chaplains was Dr Lockington. He has been replaced by Rev Peter Lyle, a former assistant of Dr Dixon's and he will read the scripture lesson at the opening session of the Assembly.
