At this momentous time in Scotland's history, Presbyterian Moderator Dr John Dixon will be in its capital city Edinburgh attending the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland which starts this Saturday 08 May.
This will be a different Assembly for two reasons. Firstly it is a week earlier that usual and secondly because the new Scottish elected body will meet in the Assembly Hall of the Church of Scotland as a temporary measure, the General Assembly is being held in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre for this year only before returning back to its traditional home on the Mound next year.
On Saturday the new Moderator of the Church of Scotland Rev John Cairns, minister of Riverside, Dumbarton, will be installed. Dr Dixon will address the Assembly on Wednesday as part of the Church and Nation debate when he will bring delegates up to date on developments within Northern Ireland.
Dr Dixon will be accompanied to Edinburgh by his senior chaplain Rev Terry McMullan and the Director of OMF in Ireland and an elder in Crumlin Presbyterian Church, Mr Hugh Meekin.
