High Kirk Presbyterian Church in Ballymena are to celebrate the opening of a new hall on Saturday 27th February 1999 at 2pm. Rev Dr John Dixon Presbyterian Moderator has been invited to open the facilty.
Situated just off the town centre on Thomas Street, High Kirk Church has grown rapidly in its 26 year existence with over 700 families on the church role making two morning services a neccessity every Sunday. The two storey new hall has been built with further church expansion in mind and comprises ground floor office space, reception/meeting area and a childrens ministry area. Upstairs provision has been made for youth teaching facilities with enough space for four classrooms.
In the church itself will sit a new Grand Piano which has been presented to High Kirk by Harry Cotter, a member of the congregation. Harry presented the grand piano in memory of his wife Linda who passed away before Christmas as a result of motor neurone disease. It was her expressed wish along with husband Harry that a lasting contribution could be made to the church.
Minister of High Kirk Presbyterian, Rev Russell Birney comments on the new hall:
"We are so grateful to God for every blessing given to us here in High Kirk. We also believe that this new hall represents a key investment for the future as we stand on the threshhold of a new millenium - there are many challenges in this town and we feel this will be able to equip us."
