Speaking on behalf of the Presbytery of Iveagh, its Moderator, Rev. Robin Greer, said:
"The entire Presbytery of Iveagh utterly condemns the recent acts of sacrilege on Saint Colman's Church at Annaclone."
In the local situation, the Rev. Noel Ward, the minister in charge of the vacant Presbyterian churches of Anaghlone, has already conveyed his feelings of deep regret to the parish Priest, Rev. Kearney.
Both Mr. Greer and Mr. Ward, added:
"We cannot fathom what these acts of sacrilege are expected to achieve, but believe the existing good relations in the community will continue. We express our utter condemnation of this attack and offer the congregation of Saint Colman's our sincere sympathy. It is, we believe, the prayer of every God fearing citizen of Northern Ireland, that such acts should stop immediately."
