Presbyterian Moderator Dr Harry Allen paid the following tribute to Bishop Gordon McMullan on hearing of his decision to retire.
Bishop McMullan has given outstanding Christian service to his church over the years.
He was always co-operative and enthusiastic in his relationships with other churches and was highly regarded by Presbyterians for his strongly held but graciously expressed Christian principles.
His knowledge of the Northern Ireland situation enabled him to communicate effectively with church and other leaders from overseas and they in return respected his balanced judgments.
I wish him God's blessing in his retirement.
