Congregations of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland |
|
Dublin Road,
Sunday Service:
Minister: Rev. Gary Millar |
MalahideThe church in Malahide grew out of a concern of members of Howth Presbyterian Church to establish a daughter church in the village. For some years, a small group met in a house, until in 1956, thanks to a gift of land from the Kirker family, they were able to move to their own building on the Dublin Road. This was the first Presbyterian Church to be built in the Irish Republic after independence. Malahide church now forms one half of the congregation of Howth and Malahide, which has two buildings, but one Kirk Session and Committee - an unusual (if not unique) arrangement within PCI! The church family seeks to live for Christ is this fast-growing and thriving community, which has managed to retain much of the friendly 'village' feel. Real warmth and a sense of optimism marks the life of the church, which is looking ahead to the future with confidence and hope.
