Magilligan

Magilligan Presbyterian Church is a rural congregation, situated eight miles from Limavady in County Londonderry, on the Seacoast Road between Limavady and Coleraine, in the shadow of the spectacular cliffs of Benevenagh and close to the ferry terminal between Magilligan Point in Northern Ireland and Greencastle in the Republic of Ireland.

The congregation is joined with First Limavady and is the smallest congregation in the Presbytery of Foyle with just under sixty families presently claiming membership. There has been a congregation here since 1813, but Presbyterians have had a presence here for much longer, formerly worshipping in nearby Myroe and First Dunboe (Articlave). Most families in the congregation have worshipped here for generations. The congregation has only had six Ministers in almost two hundred years. At present the church is served by seven elders.

Most members are involved in farming or local businesses. In the holiday season attendances are boosted by holidaymakers from the nearby Benone caravan park. Services are held every Sunday at 10.30 a.m. and visitors are always made welcome. A créche and Sunday school operate during the services. There is an active Presbyterian Women's group associated with the church and a prayer group which meets every Wednesday.
