Drumrane Road,
Sunday Service:
Minister: Rev. Dr. Clive Glass |
LargyLargy Presbyterian Church is situated in the heart of the Roe Valley and on the outskirts of the town of Limavady. Nearby is the Roe Valley Country Park. The famous Benone Strand is within easy travelling distance. Fishermen from all arts and parts are to be found in the area during the fishing season. The church was founded in 1834, and was extended in 1861 to cater for increased attendances following the 1859 revival. Re-roofing and refurbishment took place in 1994, though the building is in the traditional meeting house style. There are approximately 130 families associated with the congregation, many of whom are farmers from the area. Largy was united with the Dungiven congregation (6 miles away) in January 1995. The morning service is at 12 noon each Sunday, with monthly evening services (usually the third Sunday) at 7pm. The latter are united services with the Dungiven congregation, and alternate between the two congregations. For further information contact the Rev. Dr. Clive Glass. The emphasis in these services is a systematic expository ministry of the Bible. There is a united midweek meeting each Wednesday evening at 8pm for praise, study and prayer which alternates between the two congregations on a monthly basis. The congregation has limited hall facilities, and so most youth organisations are Dungiven based. There is however a Sunday School (10.45am) and a Youth Club. Visitors are always assured of a warm welcome, and those wishing to stay in the area can be put up locally. |
