Hillsborough

Hillsborough is situated some 4 miles from Lisburn and some 12 miles from Belfast.

The first Church on the present site was built in 1833 on land granted by the Marquis of Downshire. The Church was completely rebuilt in 1885.

The congregation has grown to over 500 families in recent years, coinciding with a rapid expansion in the housing available within the village and surrounding area.

We meet for worship at 10.30am each Sunday morning and have occasional evening services at 6.30pm. We actively attempt to make our children and young people an essential part of our church family, recognising that we are all at different stages of our faith journey. On Sunday mornings young people of secondary school age attend "Genesis" where they have a light breakfast prior to Bible study. Primary school children attend Sunday School from part way through the service.

In worship we seek to strike a balance between the traditional and the contemporary. Members take an active role in helping lead many of our services. Our praise is lead by a robed choir.

Various organisations meet throughout the week. These include an Adult Study Group, Indoor Bowling Club, Badminton Club, Girls' Brigade, Boys' Brigade, Presbyterian Women's Group, Evergreens (for senior citizens), Parent & Toddler Group, Helping Hands Knitting Group and Young Adult's Group.

Our mission statement is:

"We believe in God.
We accept the uniqueness of the revelation of God by Jesus Christ.
We rejoice in the present power of the Holy Spirit.
We acknowledge our understanding of God is imperfect;
our picture of Jesus is blurred;
our response to the Holy Spirit is inadequate.
But our goal is to present each person mature in Christ,
able to express and enjoy God."
