Hazelbank

Coleraine is a prosperous market town with its own university. It is situated on the River Bann some 4 miles up river from the estuary with the Atlantic Ocean.

Coleraine has been a centre of Christian worship since the time of St. Patrick. He called it Cuil Rathain (The Ferny Corner).

The shaping of Irish Presbyterianism dates from the Plantation of Ulster in the early years of the 17th Century.

Coleraine from 1642-1649 and a Presbyterian form of worship had been established by 1655.

Hazelbank was opened in March 1973 as a Church Extension Charge on the west bank of the Bann. It has since grown to over 300 families. Sunday Services are at 11.30am and 6.30pm with a full Christian education programme for children and teenagers.

Six house groups meet each week and prayer gatherings consistently pray for renewal and reconciliation. Outreach to the community is a priority with a growing pastoral team - Boys' Brigade, Parent and Toddler Group, Presbyterian Women's Association are a means of reaching out to the community.
