Minister: Rev. Mark Welsh |
Trinity, Greyabbey"A Welcoming, Christ-centred and Spirit-filled Church, Worshipping and Serving God in the Community." As a congregation situated in the heart of Greyabbey village, our aim is to fulfil our mission statement in ways that are both biblically based and culturally relevant. While Presbyterians have worshipped in the village since 1650, with our current church building being opened in 1904, today's congregation is very much forward thinking as it worships and serves God in the 21st Century. A Christ-centred and Spirit-filled Church At the core of all that we do are our beliefs that the Bible is the Word of God, that it is only through Christ that we can enter a meaningful relationship with God and that it is through the Holy Spirit at work in our lives, both as individuals and as a church, that we are able to live as Christ's disciples. It will be no surprise, therefore, that our vision for the development of the congregation's life and witness is based on biblical models and that we trust God to both lead us and equip us as we seek to 'welcome', 'worship' and 'serve'. A Welcoming Church While we are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, our doors are open to all. We seek to provide a warm welcome to all who attend our activities and to develop a sense of 'family'. There a number of 'welcoming' activities within our church programme including the Source Youth Club and our Women's Ministry. We also recognise the importance of caring for members of the 'family' and we seek to provide a supportive and encouraging environment for all in our care. A Worshipping Church We gather to worship as a whole congregation each Sunday. Our services are designed to enable all who attend to meet with God so that they can both worship and hear from him. Our praise combines both traditional and contemporary styles and the teaching aims to bring a biblical perspective to modern life so that we can grow in our knowledge and understanding of God and the Gospel and apply that to how we live our lives. There are no expectations, however, of prior knowledge or experience and, like Christ, we want to meet people where they are at in terms of their relationship with God. There are children's programmes available both before and during our Sunday services and these too encourage those attending to grow in their knowledge of God and to apply that to everyday life. Worship is so much more than what we do on a Sunday, however, and there are further opportunities during the week to meet with others to pray and to learn together in an informal, relaxed atmosphere. A Serving Church Christ calls us to serve others, just as he himself came to serve, and we encourage all of our members to use their gifts to serve others within the congregation as well as within the local and global communities. In serving others, we recognise that Christ came to minister to the 'whole person' and so, as we reach out, we aim to meet people's physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Examples of how we currently serve the local community include the provision of a Parent & Toddlers Group, a BB Company and Youth Club. We also seek to tell others the Good News about Christ through appropriate events and activities. Globally, we have established a partnership with a congregation in Malawi and we support the work of Christian development agencies such as Tearfund. Want to Know More?
