Eglinton

Eglinton Presbyterian Church was established in its present position in November 1938, when the then Eglinton Street congregation moved from Carlisle Circus to the Carrs Glen area of North Belfast. In 1968 the Ballysillan Road site was developed to include additional ancilliary halls and a new building to house worship on Sunday. The suite of buildings occupy a prominent position beside the Boys Model School, opposite the Carrs Glen bus terminus.

In the midst of a densely populated residential area, the congregational life has many facets. In our weekly worship on Sundays at 11.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m we are increasingly trying to encourage many to use their gifts in leading worship. Both our church choir and Praise Group are always willing to welcome new members. We are committed to incorporating traditional and contemporary praise in helping people to glorify God as they join us for worship A weekly meeting mainly for praise, prayer and Bible Study (Open to God) is supplemented by a number of home prayer groups (Streetlights) which meet monthly.

Sunday Schools meet during morning worship and at 2.30 on Sunday afternoons. There is a wide range of organisations for children, young people and adults: Presbyterian Womens Association, Mens and Ladies Bowling, Senior Citizens Club, Mother and Toddler group, Boys and Girls Brigade, Youth Club, Youth Fellowship and Junior C.E.

The vast majority of our leaders and members live locally and we are committed to serving the local community in the name of the Lord. Currently we are developing an information pack about church and area that will be offered to those moving into the area.

We are glad to welcome visitors and hope that those who come find friendship and the presence of the Lord in our midst.

The present minister of the congregation, Rev. Colin Morrison came to Eglinton in 1993.
