Dun LaoghaireYork Road Presbyterian Church is located in the harbour town of Dun Laoghaire, seven miles south of Dublin city centre. The founding members of our congregation were actually Scottish builders, who helped to build the harbour.
The town is perhaps best known for its pier, which is a very popular spot with walkers and runners. The current church building was constructed by these Scottish workers and was completed in 1863. Dun Laoghaire has grown since these early days and now has a population of around 180,000 people. Today the church continues to serve the needs of the Dun Laoghaire community. York Road is a church of two congregations. Our Saturday@5 congregation meets (surprise! surprise!) every Saturday at 5 p.m. This congregation was launched in September 2006 with the intention of providing a safe place for anyone to explore the big questions of life and faith. Our Sunday congregation meets at 11 a.m. and is a gathering for worship and learning, with the congregation made up of people from different social, religious and ethnic backgrounds and of all ages. York Road's mission statement is 'To encourage people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ'. To visit the church website, please go to www.dl-pc.org In addition to the Sunday services there are a number of church activities that take place during the week -
Christianity Explored - www.christianityexplored.com For further information on any of these activities please contact Andrew. If you are visiting Dun Laoghaire please do come and join us, you can be assured of a warm welcome! |
