New Street,
Sunday Service:
Minister: Rev. Dr. Clive Glass |
DungivenThe town of Dungiven is to be found on the main road between Belfast and Londonderry, and is the first to be reached after climbing the Glenshane Pass. The countryside around Dungiven is a picture landscape of mountains and valleys, with the town itself situated in the foothills of Benbradagh mountain (1535 ft). Within the town can be found an Augustinian Priory (founded in 1100 AD) and ancient castle dating back to the Plantation. First Dungiven Presbyterian Church was formed in 1835 and Second Dungiven Presbyterian Church in 1839. The two congregations united in 1848. The present church building was that erected by the 2nd Dungiven Congregation. The church building erected by 1st Dungiven congregation is now the church hall (Guild Hall). There are just over 80 families connected to the congregation, the majority of whom are farmers in the surrounding area. Dungiven was united with the Largy congregation (6 miles away) in January 1995. The morning service is at 10.30am each Sunday, with monthly evening services (usually the 3rd Sunday) at 7pm. The latter are united services with the Largy congregation, and alternate between the two congregations. For further information contact Rev. Dr. Clive Glass. The emphasis in these services is a systematic expository ministry of the Bible. Sunday School meets at 9.30am. There is a united midweek meeting each Wednesday evening at 8pm for praise, study and prayer which alternates between the two congregations on a monthly basis. The Guild Hall is in use most nights of the week, with Boys' Brigade, Girls' Brigade, Badminton Club, Youth Club and Youth Fellowship all making use of the facilities. Visitors are always assured of a warm welcome, and those wishing to stay in the area can be put up by members of the congregation. |
