First Donegore

First Donegore Presbyterian Church is one of the oldest Presbyterian congregations having had as its first minister Andrew Stewart, a nephew of John Knox and who came to Donegore in 1627. The meeting-house was built in the mid 1700s in the village of Parkgate near Templepatrick but the congregation has always been named Donegore from the ancient parish church of Donegore where the congregation first met.

Today we are a congregation of 230 families in a village environment which has seen much development in recent years as a commuter area. We are fortunate in having good facilities including a suite of halls which were refurbished and extended in 2006 and which are heavily used throughout the week.

Organisations include long established ones such as the GB, BB, PW, Friendship Club and Indoor Bowls together with newer groups including a Youth Club and Carers & Toddlers.

We have a large Sunday school in the hall together with a créche during Sunday morning service. We have been closely involved in the PCI initiative "Tell It Again" and arising from this work we have developed a comprehensive mission plan which is now being implemented.
