Donacloney

Donaghcloney (from Dommach-Cluana - "the Church in the meadow") is a village in the upper Lagan Valley, once known for its linen factory. The factory is now closed, but the village is growing through housing development and ease of travel to Belfast, Lisburn, Craigavon and Banbridge.

Donacloney Presbyterian Church has around 100 full members and 200 families in connection with the congregation. It began as a secession from Tullylish in the 1740s, and has met for worship at its present location on the Moygannon Road since 1750. The current church meetinghouse dates from 1900.

The congregation meets on the Lord's Day at 11.30am and 6.30pm. It also has a meeting for Bible Study and fellowship on Tuesdays at 8.00pm and for prayer on Fridays at 8.00pm. There is a Boys' Brigade Company, Girls' Brigade Company and Sunday School connected to the church, as well as a Senior Citizens Coffee Morning, Young Women's Group and PWA branch.
