Congregations of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland |

Carncome Road,
Sunday Service:
Minister: Rev Richard Murray |
ConnorConnor Presbyterian Church is situated in the village of the same name, twinned with the village of Kells, on the outskirts of Ballymena. The townland of Connor has a long history given that the first church in the area was founded around 480AD although the exact beginning of the Presbyterian cause is shrouded in the mists of time. However, in 1658 a Mr Robert Dewart was ordained as the first minister of Connor and, including the present incumbent, there have been 20 ministers since that date. The congregation is forever associated with the origins of the 1859 Revival when four young men met regularly to pray for the spiritual wellbeing of the neighbourhood. That prayer meeting increased in numbers and soon conversions to Christ were becoming commonplace. God's Spirit moved across the whole island of Ireland and eventually through this awakening some 100,000 people had come to Christ. The current church building is just over a hundred years old and has a seating capacity of around 1000. This building replaced the former one which was of a similar size but was unable to hold the large numbers of converts from the Revival. The local congregation of Kells was started to meet the need for seating and their building would seat over 500 people. Testimony indeed to the extent of the Revival! Today Connor has approximately 400 families claiming connection. Our overarching concern is to present the good news about Jesus Christ in ways that are relevant, winsome and Spirit-filled. You are welcome to join with us and be part of what God is doing in this area of Co. Antrim in the twenty first century.
