Sunday Service:
Minister: Rev. Maurice Stewart |
CloughClough Presbyterian Church has a history dating back to AD 1680. We are presently a congregation of some 140 families with a busy schedule of meetings and activities throughout the year. We believe in the authority of scripture in all matters relating to faith and practice and there is a strong emphasis on evangelical witness in both the preaching and in the life and work of the congregation. Our services of worship are at 11.30am and 6.30 pm each Lord's Day, the evening service being a joint service with Seaforde, our sister congregation. There is an opportunity for tea and fellowship after the evening service. We also have a weekly midweek prayer and bible study on Wednesdays at 8.00pm, which alternates with Seaforde. The Sunday School and Bible classes meet before worship each Sunday and there is a crèche for younger children. A Youth Fellowship for younger teenagers meets twice monthly on alternate Sunday and Saturday evenings. There are also special services throughout the year for our younger members and a Holiday Bible Club in the 2nd week in August for primary children. The weekly meetings throughout the year include Boys & Girls Brigade Companies, Youth Club, Badminton and Table Tennis Clubs. The BB meet on Mondays from 7.00pm and the GB on Thursdays from 6.30pm. The Youth Club for P7 - 16yrs meets on Fridays at 8.00pm. These are all very well attended and new members are always welcome. Both the Badminton and Table Tennis clubs meet on Tuesday evenings from 7.00pm. There is also a well supported Mums and toddlers group which meets on Wednesday mornings from 10.30am. The PW (Presbyterian Women) meet monthly throughout the year on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 8.00pm with interesting speakers, usually from a missionary perspective. All of the above meetings are held in our well equipped and extensive church hall. We are currently engaged in a refurbishment project of the Clough Old School House on the Main Street in the village as an outreach centre into the wider community. Clough village is on the main road between Ballynahinch and Newcastle, or between Downpatrick and Castlewellan. We are located in The Square, accessed from the Main Street on either side of the Old School House and opposite Cumran Primary School. |
