Bannfield Road,
Sunday Service:
Minister: Rev Damien Boyle |
ClonduffClonduff Presbyterian Church is situated in South Down at the foot of the Mourne Mountains approximately 3 miles from Rathfriland heading towards Castlewellan. It is a church of approximately 76 families and is joined in partnership for Christ with Hilltown Presbyterian Church which is approximately 5 miles away. The congregations join together for the 6.30 pm Sunday evening service alternating the venue between Clonduff and Hilltown. The congregation of Clonduff came into being in approximately 1840 when the newly formed fellowship met the Marquis of Downshire to 'solicit his Lordship's approval of a site for a meeting house.' The new building was completed in 1842. One special feature inside the church has been the conversion of the original ornate oil lamps to electricity. Having seen the Spirit of God move dynamically through the work of recent ministers and the vision of the eldership, Clonduff is a vibrant congregation seeking to motivate its members to be passionate about evangelism and then to be a witness to the whole community. The members of the church live mostly in the surrounding area and Rathfriland although some members travel from as far away as Banbridge to join in fellowship. Organizations within the fellowship include :- Sunday School; PWA; Youth Fellowship; Daniel's band (Primary school kids club); Girl's Brigade; Youth Club; Bowls club; Badminton club etc. Visitors are assured of a warm welcome and tea is usually served immediately after the morning service in the hall. Creche and children's church facilities are also available. More information including history booklet, organizations etc. may be gleaned on the congregational website www.clonduff.co.uk. |
