Cavanaleck

'To love God and to love others'

Cavanaleck Presbyterian Church (CPC) is situated 1 mile outside Fivemiletown on the right hand side of the main road to Enniskillen. The building sits just behind the church sign boards which are clearly visible from the road

The congregation dates back to the last quarter of the 17th century when ministers from neighbouring districts preached at Cavanaleck. The first minister to be called by the congregation was the Rev. Josiah Cornwall who was ordained on the 21st May, 1704.

Cavanaleck is a Presbyterian congregation that is seeking to be relevant and outward looking. Bible centred teaching combined with Power Point technology provides the opportunity to learn about the exciting and life changing truths found in God's Word. Praise and worship at CPC seeks to glorify God through a combination of contemporary and traditional music and sound. We are not content with just coming to church on a Sunday morning but rather we believe we 'exist to love and glorify God, to love and care for one another and to love and reach our neighbour with the good news of Jesus Christ'.

In 1956 Cavanaleck joined with Aughentaine (Co. Tyrone) to become a united charge. Since then the two congregations join together for midweek activities and we constantly strive 'to work together for God's purpose'.

The midweek fellowship for prayer and Bible study meets on a Thursday evening. Here, we seek to explore God's Word and apply it to our lives, before joining together in prayer.

On a Friday evening, there is a Children's Club and a Youth Club which meet in Aughentaine church hall at 7.15. Both activities incorporate Bible teaching as well as fun and games.

Cavanaleck Sunday Club runs from 10.00am-10.45am, in the hall at Cavanaleck prior to the morning service. Classes range from primary school to early teens. A crèche and childrens' church are available during the service. Once a month the ladies of the PW also meet.

We have an active missionary committee. Once a month this committee is responsible for organising a missionary spot during the morning service. Biannually, it also arranges a missionary weekend. One of our members, Mr Colin Mills, serves with Wycliff Bible Translators in Burkina Faso.

We always seek to give visitors a warm welcome, so if you are ever in the Fivemiletown area, do feel free to join us for worship.
