Minister: Rev Sam Anketell |
First Bailieborough (Corglass)First Bailieborough Church is situated just over three miles from the town of Bailieborough. From Main Street take the Shercock Rd., .5 miles turn left, 2.5 miles turn right and .25 miles further you will find the Church which is known locally as 'Corglass'. The Rev David Sim was the first Minister and was installed on March 25th, 1714. The Church building dates from 1795. The congregation consists of 45 families, with 110 persons of all ages connected to the Church, mainly from a farming background. At special times such as Christmas, Easter, Harvest Thanksgivings, and when a fifth Sunday occurs in the month Corglass joins with the other two Churches in the group Trinity Bailieborough, and Coroneary, for a joint Service of Worship at 11 a.m. alternating between Churches. Most of the activities outside Sunday Worship are with the other congregations in our group. Bible Study in the Manse on alternate Thursday nights, monthly meetings of the Presbyterian Woman's Association, The J Club meets fortnightly to cater for music, art, and drama with a Christian bias for National School children while Focus, our youth fellowship, meets in the Manse on a monthly basis, as well as attending P.Y.M. activities. Boys Brigade meet on Friday nights in Trinity Hall, and Girls from our congregation attend G.F.S. on Friday nights in the Parish Hall. If you are visiting our area on a Sunday morning, we would love to have you with us for worship and would assure you of a sincere welcome.
