Aughentaine

'To love God and to love others'

Aughentaine Presbyterian Church (APC) is situated a few miles outside Fivemiletown. The first minister of the congregation was the Rev. Thomas Dickson who was installed on the 14th December, 1744. Today, over 250 years later, and at the beginning of the 21st century, the congregation still seeks to be a living witness to the Truths of the Gospel.

Aughentaine is a rural Presbyterian congregation that is seeking to be relevant and outward looking. Bible centred teaching combined with Power Point technology provides the opportunity to learn about the exciting and life changing truths found in God's Word. Praise and worship at APC seeks to glorify God through a combination of contemporary and traditional music and sound. We are not content with just coming to church on a Sunday morning but rather we believe we 'exist to love and glorify God, to love and care for one another and to love and reach our neighbour with the good news of Jesus Christ.'

In 1956 Aughentaine joined with the Cavanaleck congregation (Co. Fermanagh) to become a united charge. Since then the two congregations join together for midweek activities and we constantly 'strive to work together for God's purpose'.

The midweek fellowship for prayer and Bible study meets on a Thursday evening.

On a Friday evening, there is a Children's Club and a Youth Club which meet in the church hall at 7.15pm Both activities incorporate Bible teaching as well as fun and games.

In addition to these, the Aughentaine Bowling Club meets on a Tuesday evening, the Badminton Club meet on Wednesday evening for juniors and seniors

Sunday school is held prior to the Morning service, from primary school age to a class for late teens. There is a crèche available during the service. Once a month the ladies of the PW also meet. An evening service is held in Aughentaine on the last Sunday of the month.

The congregation has an active missionary committee. Once a month this committee organises a missionary spot during the morning service. Biannually, it also arranges a missionary weekend. One of our members, Miss Ida Johnston serves with C.E.F.in Lapland.

We always seek to give visitors a warm welcome, so if you are ever in the Fivemiletown area, (there are signposts to the church from the main Fivemiletown-Clogher road) do feel free to join us for worship.
