West Street,
Sunday Service:
Minister: Rev.. A.W. Carson |
Strean, NewtownardsThe congregation of Strean Presbyterian Church was formed in 1865. The beautiful Gothic-style building made from Scrabo stone can be found in the town centre of Newtownards. Its spire can be seen from miles around. Strean has 308 families (2007). Whilst the church building is in the town centre the congregation is made up of families from around the whole of this rapidly growing town and also from the farming community. We meet for worship every Sunday morning and on the third Sunday of each month (second Sunday in December) we have a family service. On other Sundays children go to their own time of worship and study during the main service. The evening service on the fourth Sunday of each month is a praise service incorporating traditional praise with contemporary worship. The other evening services concentrate on expository preaching and praise. A Midweek study fellowship meets on Wednesday evenings for Bible study, discussion and prayer. The church halls are an important asset and are used extensively throughout the year. There are Sunday Prayer Groups, a Women's Study and Prayer Fellowship, Junior and Senior Badminton Clubs, an Indoor Bowling Club, Boys' Brigade, Girls' Brigade, Presbyterian Women's Association, Tots and Toddlers, Sunday Schools, Young Women's Group, Youth Club and Youth Fellowship. These groups are well-supported and serve to build bonds of fellowship within the congregation. For furhter information visit the congregation website at www.strean.org |
