Frances Street, Sunday Service:
Minister: Rev Jim Campbell |
First NewtownardsFirst Newtownards Presbyterian Church was established at its current site in 1815 and throughout the last 194 years the church has had an interesting and varied history. Newtownards is on the east side of Northern Ireland, approximately 10 miles from Belfast and situated at the head of Strangford Lough. Once a market town, Newtownards has now become a thriving commuter town giving access to both the Ards peninsula and Belfast. There are approximately 400 families connected to the congregation where a wide range of meetings and activities, including Bible Study Groups, Boys Brigade, Girls Brigade, Youth activities, Bowls etc., are provided for both young and old. Sundays services are held, each week, at 11.30 and 7.00; a special all-age service is held on the last Sunday of each month. Our Mission Statement is to "worship and glorify God and to be used by God to introduce people to Jesus Christ and the joy to be found in knowing Him as Saviour and walking daily with Him." First Newtownards Presbyterian Church's primary aims are to engage in meaningful and sincere worship of God, encouraging Christians to experience all the blessings available in Jesus, to be a welcoming church where everyone will feel at home. Reaching out in love to our community and further afield, serving the community in caring practical ways in Jesus name and supporting our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering persecution for their faith.
