River House is a purpose built Residential Home managed under the auspices of the Presbyterian Residential Trust. The aim of the Trust is to provide residential accommodation which offers care and support to elderly people within a Christian environment. The Home enjoys a quiet seaside setting between the sea and the Mountains of Mourne.

River House can accommodate 30 residents in 26 single and 2 double rooms. It has pleasant sitting rooms and a spacious dining room, and functions in a 'no smoking' environment. All rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished. Residents are encouraged to bring pictures and suitable small items of furniture to make their room more homely. Every effort is made to create an environment in which the residents can enjoy dignity, respect, comfort and care.

The physical, social and emotional needs of the residents are assessed and an individual care plan is drawn up to meet them. This programme enables each person to be as independent as possible. Residents are encouraged to take part in local activities and to lead a normal active life in the community as far as possible.

A varied programme of optional therapeutic activities is organised daily for the residents. It includes entertainment, craft-work, games, quizzes, barbeques and outings.

River House seeks to maintain a Christian ethos and environment. Residents may attend services of worship and times of Fellowship which are held regularly within the Home. Spiritual support and encouragement are given when requested. Transport is arranged for residents who wish to attend local churches, close contact with which is encouraged. River House welcomes residents from all denominations.
