The Nomination Board

Convener: Dr. Donald Watts

This Board deals specifically with Assembly appointments, whether of Professors in Union Theological College or heads of departments in Church House. It is not concerned with the annual appointment of the Moderator.

Applications are received from candidates and, if necessary, shortlisted before interview by the Board. Anyone eventually receiving more than two-thirds of the member's votes is presented to the Assembly as sole nominee; but if, at the final vote, the runner-up receives one-third of the votes cast, his or her name as well as that of the leading candidate, with particulars, is also forwarded to the Assembly for a final choice.
