Boards and Committees of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland

Board of Communications

Convener: Rev. Alistair Kennedy
Secretary: Stephen Lynas

Email: info@presbyterianireland.org

The Board carries overall responsibility for the communications of the central church with its congregations and members. The Church is an organisation which exists to communicate a message and the General Assembly recognises the importance of using all means available to us with professional skills. The work of the Ad Hoc Committee on Priorities has emphasised the key service role of the Board and has resulted in many changes to its working.

Communications Administration Committee Convener: Rev. Dr. Alan Russell
This acts as the Standing Committee of the Board and is responsible for the administration and finances of the Board, the communications office and the Presbyterian Herald (the monthly periodical of the Church).

Communications Development Committee Convener: Rev. Chris Glover
The former Media Committee has been reinvented to develop a more hands-on approach to commissioning new media productions. In addition it will work with media training for ministers, congregations and other PCI staff and will review and assess the communications output of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

Church Architecture Committee Convener: Rev. George Simpson
A committee of ministers and architecture professionals who review all congregational schemes which relate to church buildings, church halls and manses and advise on proposals. The committee meet monthly and conduct many site visits. Congregations spend many millions annually on new builds and renovations.

Historical Society Convener Convener: Rev. Ivor Smyth
Acting as a personal link between the Presbyterian Historical Society and the Church and acting as a co-convener of the Communications Administration Committee when it deals with matters relating to our interest in the Historical Society.
