Mission in Ireland

Reaching new people and new places, to bring new life in Christ

Reaching new people and new places, to bring new life in Christ

Ireland has been undergoing significant change - in its culture, in its communities and in how people see faith. In this shifting landscape, the Presbyterian Church in Ireland seeks to respond with imagination, courage and hope.

The Council for Mission in Ireland exists to help the Church live out that calling. Guided by the General Assembly, the Council shapes PCI’s strategic priorities for mission across Ireland through a work that spans a wide and diverse ministry. From church planting and re-planting, to chaplaincy in healthcare, prisons, the military and universities, and the support of Irish Mission Workers, Deaconesses and Mission Pioneers. The Council also oversees the Home and Irish Mission, including the Irish Mission Fund, ensuring that local congregations and Presbyteries are resourced and encouraged in their witness.

As Ireland continues to change, our vision remains to enable the Presbyterian Church in Ireland to proclaim the good news of Jesus and reach out in love to every corner of this island, so that new people and new places would experience the new life found in Christ.

Rural chaplaincy

This new role of rural chaplaincy is a ministry that offers support and hope of Christ to farmers and their families. Rooted in rural life and shaped by faith, this role seeks to walk alongside communities across four presbyteries in partnership with local churches. It will also help the Church respond more effectively to the significant challenges facing the farming community at this time.
