Mission Reports

Alan and Tracey Johnston have served the Lord together in many different ways, for example, co-leading Holiday Bible clubs in Dungannon and Elmwood, Lisburn, and co-leading the PCI Ignite Team to Italy for three years.

Alan was formerly minister of Gilford and Tullylish congregations, before moving to Hazelbank Presbyterian Church in Coleraine in 2004. Tracey has worked in Wesley Owen / Faith Mission Bookshop in Coleraine.

Alan and Tracey arrived in Italy in mid-June 2014 where they are working with Coram Deo Ministries. Coram Deo are involved in book translation and publication, conferences and church planting. The couple are mainly involved in Coram Deo's first church plant Sola Grazia (Grace Alone) Church, Porto Mantovano outside Mantova.

Their work involves preaching, administration, teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL), community outreach, and Porto United (sports outreach).

There is a long-term desire within Coram Deo to be able to afford to open a coffee shop / bookshop in the centre of Mantova.

In summer 2015 the couple were back in Ireland for a few weeks, during which they did a short radio interview with Premier Radio. Alan also spoke at the Bangor Worldwide Missionary Convention in August.

Both of these recording are available online, at Premier Radio and Bangor Worldwide Mission.

This is one of the most important prayer bulletins we have had to send. It is also one of the most difficult ones to write.

Over the last year many of you have been lovingly asking us if we are going to stay in Italy at the end of our agreed four years, or are we going to go / come home.

The four-year agreement had been looming large on the horizon for some time now, and we welcomed the opportunity to chat it over with Uel Marrs (Council for Global Mission Secretary) at the end of November.

We believe that we have fulfilled the job we came to do with Coram Deo and that it is time that the scaffolding we have tried to provide is removed to allow the church to grow and develop without our hands-on assistance.

We still have a passion for the people of this amazing country and are still actively praying for different work that is ongoing throughout this land in the name of Jesus Christ.

So, sometime before the end of May we will be returning to our home in Castlerock. Between now and then we will continue to seek the Lord’s guidance as to the next season of ministry He might be leading us into.

As this is the first official announcement as to our planned return (we had not made it public until now), we have to watch and wait for what comes next.

We are leaving with no bad feelings or under any sort of cloud, but with a sense that this season of ministry is naturally coming to an obvious conclusion.

Prayer Points

  • Please continue to keep the work of Coram Deo in your prayers, along with the wonderful congregation of Chiesa Sola Grazia.
